How is a hair transplant done?
A hair transplant is a surgical procedure that moves hair follicles from a donor area, typically the back or sides of the scalp, to areas with thinning or no hair. It involves two main techniques: FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction), where individual follicles are carefully extracted and transplanted, and DHI (Direct Hair Implantation), which uses a specialized tool to directly implant follicles into the recipient area. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia and is designed to create natural-looking, permanent results.

Healing Stages After Hair Transplantation
The healing process after a hair transplant occurs in distinct stages. In the first few days, patients may experience mild swelling, redness, and the formation of small scabs around the transplanted follicles, which protect the grafts as they begin to heal. By the end of the first week, the scabs typically start falling off naturally, revealing the new grafts. Around 2-3 weeks post-procedure, some transplanted hairs may shed, a normal part of the growth cycle known as “shock loss.” New hair growth usually begins after 3-4 months, gradually improving in density and appearance. Full results can typically be seen within 12-18 months, as the transplanted hair matures and blends naturally with the existing hair.
